Senator Bob Casey visits Mack truck production facility

U.S. Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.) Friday visited Mack Trucks’ Lehigh Valley Operations (LVO) facility in Macungie, Pa., where he drove the Mack LR Electric, Mack’s first fully electric Class 8 refuse vehicle.

Assembled at LVO, the Mack LR Electric offers zero tailpipe emissions, improved sustainability and a quieter vehicle for refuse collection. During his time at the facility, Sen. Casey toured the operation and discussed the recently passed CHIPS and Science Act, which was supported by Sen. Casey and signed into law by President Joe Biden on Aug. 9.

The act incentivizes the investment in domestic jobs, technology and manufacturing, primarily in the semiconductor industry. Semiconductor chips are critical to manufacturing Mack trucks, with some heavy-duty diesel-powered trucks requiring up to 1,500 chips per truck.
